Better RB?

Who was a better RB, Herschel Walker or Reggie Bush?

That doesn't say much. The Falcons built their team around Michael Vick... Why would you build your team around Reggie Bush?

He's the definition of an athlete. Put him anywhere on the field and he'll be a playmaker sans the offensive line and defensive front 7.

I "argue" becuase people vote and then walk away. The first post clearly asked them to discuss. I guess people can't read. I haven't seen one good explanation as to why Bush is better. Not seeing Herschel play is not a good explanation (for those that picked him and said nothing).
Fair enough.

Everyone that picked Bush says they don't know much about Walker. Everyone that knows something about both players picked Walker. It is pretty idiotic if you ask me. That is why I argue their posts of "Bush is better". Its not hard to see. With you being a sports writer I would think that you would understand that. Have you ever written an article and gave you opinion without backing it up or supporting it? I doubt it?
I'm a sports writer? That's news to me. ;)

And no, you shouldn't write opinion articles without credible support to back up your opinion. However, this isn't a newspaper or magazine. It's a message board. You had to know people would vote without replying or having good information to backup their claim(s).

As for you saying I need attention... I made the poll to get away from the thread with vets constantly talking about USC's history (which nobody was disputing...). Is that against the rules?
Not at all. I don't visit the CFB board as much as others, so I didn't know what was going on. I just thought it was a weird, out-of-the-blue poll.

I thought you were a sports writer. My bad. You at least know enough to be one. I thought I remembered you saying you wrote for your school newspaper, or was that someone else?

That was me. Been out of that for a while now (not much left to do there).

I'll hopefully be a sports writer some day.

I think this comparison is hard, as the role of the RB has changed so much from the time Walker played to when Bush played. The role hasn't changed only in college, but in the pros. Probably more-so in the pros.

I'm sure Bush is the better playmaker of the two, but I'm just as sure Walker was the better true RB of the two.

All I am asking is for you to support your choice. Your husband claims you have forgotten more about football than I know, so lets see it. Do you even know anything about Herschel Walker? Coming on here and clicking a button and walking away does nothing for the discussion.

I know that Herschel Walker was a great running back. His freshman year he broke the record for most yards by a freshman and I know that he was a power back not a speed back. I didn't get to see him play because I was to young to watch and fully understand the game at the time. So to say that he was the greatest by a couple of clips that are played over and over again is retarded. Now I do know a lot more about reggie but I watched him through out his time at usc. Reggie was/ is a great speed back.

I agree with some of the other when they say it is like comparing apples and oranges because they played at different times and they are different kinds of backs, which does effect the way you play. I think that reggie is better because he could do it all. You didn't just have to watch in on the run but he was a great wide out when they need him there to. Reggie was all over the place which would make me look at him a a better player and the one that I would want on my them. Now is this say that I have no respect for Walker....... not but if I could make a team up of college players I would rather reggie!

Herschel wasn't a speed back? The guy ran track and set Georgia records and was in the Olympics. Many claims that he ran a 4.25 40. Reggie was a speed back and a damn good one at that. Herschel has just as much speed as him. What made Herschel special was the fact that he was so fast and powerful. He brought both to the table. Reggie Bush will never come close to having the power that Herschel had. You can't name any player who had a better combination of power and speed than Herschel Walker.

after all the arguments and people being homers..i'd still take bush because he can do more..and no i don't like usc or uga but bush was the most exciting athlete in college from the last 25 years..id rather have a homerun threat than a bruiser

For everyone that classifies Walker as a "bruiser" is greatly misinformed. The guy could run faster than Reggie Bush. How can Reggie Bush do more? Herschel Walker caught passes and returned kicks too. What Reggie couldn't do is line up in the I and pound them up the middle all game. :salut:
