A little rant about ebay

I am selling my books last semester since I get more there than from the bookstore. Yet, I went to set shipping at $7 so that it is covered. The max for a book is apparently only $4, even if it is set for USPS Priority which starts at $4.80! I am still sending priority since I know I want my book fast for class, but still stupid. Atleast my subtitle was free  For the $69 book I sold, I have $66.70 in the paypal account. So, they took out $2.30, plus I lost $3.40 on shipping, and like $7 on FVF fees. So my $69 is really $56. I feel like I got raped, but I would have gotten it a lot worse at the bookstore.

Apparently they do on books, since I am watching a card that is $5 shipping. I was not happy about it.

At least you were able to sell your books. I bet half the books during my college years were not accepted by any book stores because of a new edition, and they sold for peanuts on eBay. Be happy you were at least able to recover something from your books. College text books are the biggest scam a University can run.

Agreed. My Linear Algebra book is a 2002 and still used  but I already have some I can't dump.

you can send the book "media mail" and it won't hardly cost you anything....

I will look into this then. Might help some.

Brad - did you sell your books on ebay or half.com? half.com is ebay and that is where you sell your books at if you have not before... Check it out. You do not get your money right away... they do a first and middle of the month deposit into a checking account.... Also they charge the buyer the shipping so you dont have to worry about calculating fee's...... Oh yea ship books media mail or whatever it is called!

I'll look into half.com next time. I have just used ebay and sold the 3 big textbooks I had in about 24 hours, so not too bad.

they also have set shipping rates on DVDs...its stupid that they have limits on some things but not others
