Interesting move by the Panthers......Carr could be a steal for them

QB Carr Signs With Panthers
Len Pasquarelli, ESPN -

The Carolina Panthers made a big splash in the free agent market on Friday, signing former 1st overall pick QB David Carr to a two-year contract. "It's a case where we were obviously looking for someone to come in [and] back up Jake and the opportunity to get a quarterback the caliber of David in free agency is unique," Panthers GM Marty Hurney said. "We thought it was a good situation and a good opportunity for us."

Carr will only get playing time if Jake gets hurt. Yes I think Carr is a good QB that didn't have a chance in Houston because of his line, but Jake is the real deal!

ya right he lost us 4-5 games last year with a chance to win cause he threw an INT on the last drive of the game! "Real Deal" Please!

have to agree with Mike here brandon. I watched so many games last year that jake blew trying to force the ball to steve smith. three of the 5 games he had keary colbert WIDE open in the situation he threw the INT also. Jake had a fluke year his first year with them that he will never duplicate. I think if Carr is given the chance to play in Carolina he will be a pro bowler for sure.

David Carr is a pro Bowler and has a chance to be an ELITE QB in the league. He will not be behind Jake for long. I think Delhomme will start the season and he will start it with a VERY short leash.

If Carr is just a backup; I don't see how its a good move for him. Like kutzy, I think he has pro bowler talent; that has never come to life - much rather see him in a starting role.

Like most have said Dehlome(sp) will be on a very short leash and if thats the case one mistake gives the job to Carr. What other place that could have signed him to a starting role would give him the team already surrounding him if he can get the job from jake.
