Baseball Michael Young - Texas SS

RZ11

Bench Warmer
Chance at 3000 hits or no?

He started out late at 24-25 yrs old, but is averaging 200+ hits a season for the past 4 seasons and maybe this year if he comes on strong for the rest of the year.

If he were to pull a Biggio and play 18 years he could definately make it.

What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

I hope he does so I can unload all of my Michael Young stuff. I can see it happen, but I think he also needs to get protection or get out of Texas. He had Mark Teixeria & soon Hank Blalock will probably be gone. He's got to get a new power hitter behind him that can protect him for many years (Craig Biggio had Jeff Bagwell for all those years). His best bet is find out where Justin Morneau & Joe Mauer are going after Minnesota...

Any other opinions on this?

I'm thinking of picking of a few decent pieces of his. Not sure if he "could" turn out to be a HOF caliber player or just another average Joe.

I think hes overrated if anything. He had that great season to put him on the map, and should not have even been an all star this year, got lucky the Rangers needed a rep.

He'll be a valuable player and better than the average joe. Sadly he wont be amazing and he wont get 300 hits.

Tough position, tough conditions in Texas--these alone make it very doubtful he will get near 3000 hits in my opinion.

even though i live in texas, i hope he gets traded to a better team, because the rangers are garbage and he won't get close if he stays w/ them
