Portland still made the right decision

Oden being out 1 year and I still think they made the right decision. This guy is going to be great. He has good footwork and has the ability to be a top 5 center in the league. These guys come once every few years and he is the next one.

although Portland fans may not be patient about it.

That is where you are wrong ;) We (Portland Fans)know that we were not on track to make a title run this year...not even a playoff run. I was thinking 38 wins would be a good year. While this is definitely hard to hear and does hurt, it is not a franchise killer. Portland is looking at another top 10 draft pick this year....think to 2008, we will have Roy, Aldridge, Oden, and another high draft pick....along with Jack, Outlaw (if his confidence stays intact), Martell Webster (see Outlaw), Channing Frye.......while this is a set back, the future is as bright if not brighter than every other team in the league.

This could be good for Portland. Remember when David Robinson got hurt and because of it they got a great pick. That led them to championships. Portland should expect a pretty high pick again this year seeing that not much has changed for them.

Robinson and Oden don't belong in the same sentence.

Oden, "might" turn out to be a decent defensive center. His offensive is extremely questionable on the NBA level.

Not to mention staying out of fould trouble might be his biggest trouble.

So before we all sit around and make bold statements of his greatness and how he "might" even remotely have a career like David Robinson due to this injury ... let's wait until he's logged atleast 45 mins of NBA court time.

I still like the pick. And even if they don't go to the playoffs, they'll get Oden, Fernandez, & their lottery pick to join them next year.
