Iverson traded to Pistons for Billups and McDyess

That is ridiculous if Denver buys out his contract!

In the REAL world, if McDyess doesn't want to honour his contract then HE would have to buy out his contract.

I hope Denver plays hardball otherwise a straight Billups + no name trade for AI is not fair.

I hate players that pull the scumbag move that they wont play for a team. Especially when they are getting paid millions. Alonzo Mourning pulled that stupid stunt on Toronto. He was traded to Toronto. Then he wouldnt show up and wanted to be traded to a contender? Toronto had to pay $10 million to get him off their books and then turn around give him to the Miami Heat for nothing. Where he went on to buy himself a ring.

Players that hold out and dont play and still want to get paid should be banned from the NBA. It sets the wrong example. It just goes to show how much of a baby some sports atheletes are. "I want millions and I want to play where I want to play".

Exactly my feelings!
That is just a selfish move and shows how far removed from the REAL world those players can be.

Not all of them are brats though - Just look at Granger :)

At first I was a bit angry, but we will see what happens.

Detroit is now far and away the 2nd best team in the East. Cleveland is not nor was in the first place.

Also, I read a bunch of articles on this being a HUGE MOVE not for this year, but years to come. Not only is this an contract year for Iverson, its also an contract year for Rasheed. Which makes them both Free Agents at the end of the year and freeing up cap space.

Some ESPN writers wrote articles on how now Detroit is a big player in the Lebron sweepstakes and how a lot of free agents want to play for Joe Dumars and Detroit. Detroit could very well have the most cap room to sign a big name, or if they win with Iverson, go with out. Lebron is expected to opt out of his contract if he doesn't win by the end of the next season. With Boston, Detroit, Philly and Toronto, odds are, he won't.

I'm not saying thats not going to happen, but we all know with that Joe Dumars can build winning teams. I'm kind of looking out for the future.

As for the RIP/Iverson coexisiting? I don't think that will be an issue. If you look, Iverson has averaged more APG then Billups the last few years. Just think what Iverson can do when he isn't getting doubled or tripled teamed. I think the move just made Detroit the most dangerous team in the league. Also, Look out if Denver buys out Mcdyess, because 30 days later, he will be back on Detroit.

60+ wins this year for Detroit.

I bet this was brought up during trade talks. It's not like Denver was blind sided with it. I mean anyone who follows nba knows Mcdyess should have retired last year, and probably will after this year. He isn't the starter in Detroit, he had a very limited role, and quite frankly he wouldn't do much in Denver.

I bet Denver had an idea this was going to happen, they just wanted Billups because they knew Iverson was going to leave when he became a FA at the end of the year. Then they would have no point guard, and now they have one for the next 3 years.
