My First T206!

Insert Cool Title
A while ago...I finally added a T206 card to my collection. I had wanted one for years but just never got around to it. I found one I liked and decided it was finally time.

The card is mislabeled (it's obviously not a portrait)...but I think it's a great piece.

I really like the old cards too. How do you like the SGC slabs? I've never had any SGC slabbed cards, just PSA.

You know...this is my first SGC slab. All I've ever had is PSA as well. I like that with PSA they stack really well and they are a bit slimmer...but I really like how the black insert of the SCG slab makes the old white boarder cards "pop."

I know you have mentioned in the past you are a fan of the 1933 Goudey cards. Do you have any of those (I know you said the other day you hadn't added any...but have you ever owned any)? I bought this T206 because I really wanted one in my collection and I just made my first 1933 Goudey purchase...I got a small lot for a really good price (don't have the in hand yet).

But, once they get here I will have examples of the big 3: 1909-11 T206, 1933 Goudey and 1952 Topps.

Nope, I haven't gotten any of them yet. Pretty much just financial reasons behind that.

love the T206s! impossible to put the set together, but those are great cards to collect!
I really love T206 cards. I think my long term goal as far as "set" is concerned will be self-defined. As long as I don't win a BIG lottery, I will never own every T206. But, I would like to pick up an example of some of the big name players (Cobb, Young, Lajoie, ect) and maybe try and assemble a nice set of backs.

Nope, I haven't gotten any of them yet. Pretty much just financial reasons behind that.
I know the feeling, I haven't added any to my 1952 Topps set in several months.

Have you done much research into the set? I have done some over the years...some people consider card #106 to be part of the set and others don't. I personally do not (not that I could EVER afford one anyway)...I think the set without it makes a better story anyway. Do you have an opinion on it?
