I tried my best to do the math and I think this tells the story:

OVERALL: 94 - 68

With Melky: 64-54 (59%)

WITHOUT Melky: 30-15 (66%)

By-the-way, according to MLB.com, both Detroit and San Francisco were the number THREE seeds...amazing!

Still, there are 64 wins they got with him in the lineup. By the time they were WITHOUT him, Lincecum's season had started to turn around, and Scutaro and Belt and Posey had picked up their games. What I'm saying is essentially, Melky very much CARRIED the Giants prior to the AS Break, afterwards it was far more of a team effort.

I know it surprised me. I really thought when the so called experts predicted the Tigers in 4 they meant win in 4 not loose. I guess this means it's the beginning of winter.
