Why do managers/coaches in baseball wear uniforms? Never understood this (it's not like they are going to go in and play RF any time soon). I'm just thankful basketball coaches don't, the Rick Majerus days at Utah would've been brutal.

Ok, so we have "old rule" and "back in the day".......but why still to this day?

You can't be running on the field in the middle of July in a suit. They also hit balls before the game and the practice, throw batting practice, show technique to players on occassion..... I would think that is the main reason because except for the older managers they are still active on the field at times during practice and prior to games.

Maybe it's so they don't have to get red clay on their nice clothes. Why do basketball coaches wear suits, while football coaches only wear polo shirts and khakis?
