Mathematically he is not eliminated, but with only four races left he would have to win three of the four, finish extremely high in the one remaining race, and the others would all have to crash (finishing almost dead last) or not qualify.
...and what of Junior Nation? He has one of the most loyal fan bases in any sports. Unlike the New York Yankees fans, if Dale Jr. looses the lead and does not win the race, his fans cheer for him as if he had just won the Championship.
