The St. Louis Rams expect to be without starting receiver Donnie Avery for four to six weeks after the second-year pro suffered a foot injury.
An MRI showed more significant damage than expected after Avery experienced soreness in his left foot Saturday morning, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
The Rams lack established depth at wide receiver. Keenan Burton, Ronald Curry and Laurent Robinson appear to be the top three options beyond Avery.
Avery, a second-round choice in 2008 and the first receiver taken in his draft class, caught 53 passes for 674 yards and three touchdowns last season.
