Football Rams lose WR Mark Clayton for the season

Bench Warmer
Sam Bradford(notes) and the St. Louis Rams have suffered a major blow.

The No. 1 overall pick will be without his top target now as wide receiver Mark Clayton(notes) will miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a torn patellar tendon in his knee in a blowout loss at Detroit on Sunday.

Clayton, acquired just before the season started, had transitioned quickly to become a playmaker for Bradford and the Rams, who have depth and talent issues at wide receiver. Clayton had 23 catches for 306 yards and two touchdowns.

Could this get the Rams interested again in the Vincent Jackson(notes) sweepstakes? Don’t hold your breath. The top receiver now for Bradford is probably Danny Amendola(notes). The Rams can start stacking their draft board with wide receivers now.
