Tour Report: Garcia, Watney tied at 8 under
By helen ross | PGA Tour

FARMINGDALE N.Y. — Two different finishes have still left Sergio Garcia and Nick Watney tied for the lead at The Barclays.

Watney bogeyed two of his last three holes, missing a 7-footer to save par at No. 18, and finished two rounds at 8 under. He shot a 69 on Friday that included an eagle at the fifth hole and a string of three straight birdies on the back nine before the stumble at the end.

Garcia, on the other hand, managed to convert a 9-footer for par at No. 9, his final hole of the day, to shoot a 68. Garcia came to Long Island with momentum after winning the Wyndham Championship on Monday and all but locking up his spot on the European Ryder Cup team.

PGA TOUR rookie Gary Christian is on the course at 7 under for the tournament with four holes remaining, more than enough opportunities to overtake the leaders. Vijay Singh and Bob Estes are also at that number, both in the clubhouse, after rounds of 67 and 66, respectively.
