Patriots making a move for Merriman or S-Jax?

Haha...no "he fits the system" or anything like that? Just general hatred.

Have to fit in within the team culture. :lollol:

Looking at the actual fit, the Pats actually made a similiar acquisition late in the off-season with Derrick Burgess from Oakland (for a conditional 2nd/3rd RD pick). That's produced 1 sack... which is one more than Merriman right now. Unless SD is dumping Merriman at a discount (NE buying in at the bottom of his stock on the bad leg), I don't know what they're thinking in terms of immediate impact. Could just be hedging their bet on the previous deal, or making him a situational guy until he's closer to being "back."

Trading for S-Jax makes more sense. Jackson plays with heart in STL despite the continual losing. Bringing him to NE might really fire up his production, as he is a pretty strong runner, and has good hands out of the backfield (key for NE's pass-heavy style). Give STL one of NE's RB's + another player/higher pick and it would be worth looking into.
