im not so sure Moose is a HOF'er myself. You start talking about that, then you have to start considering Tom Rathman. I think it would open a can of not so wanted worms. I would like to see their names come up for consideration though, just to see what kind of support they would get.

I think it hurts Rathman that he had a rather short career . He played in 131 games w/ 107 starts while Johnston played in 151 w/ 122 starts (even with his career being shortened due to injury). Moose was a big part of the Cowboys rushing offense while Rathman gets lost in the mix due to the other 49'ers weapons and the fact that they ran a West Coast Offense. Had Rathman played w/ the 49'ers in 1994 and earned another ring I think his case, even w/ 9 years, might be stronger. The fact that Johnston is linked w/ Smith might eventually help him. Besides those two I think Neal played at a HOF level.

Rathman's career may have been very slightly shorter than Johnston's, but his carrer stats are way better than Johnston's also. Only a Dallas fan would say that Rathman was not a big part of the (Roger Craig) running game and was lost in the mix, because i remember him very well :D . He was just as good a blocker as Johnston, only he got used in the offense more!..And while we are on FB's, Alstott may have been better than both of them for a period.

All that is true (except the Cowboys part lol) but I believe the length of his career is a factor. It seems like modern candidates need to have longer careers too get inducted. I also don't argue his role in the offense but Craig not being inducted hurts him as well.

Alstott was a talented back but I don't feel like he was a true FB.

if i hear the term "America's Team" one more time, i am going to throw up in my beer...lol.:D .:p

Jim Brown's job description sated that he was FB, but i wouldn't consider him a true FB either,, since he received the majority of the carries.

unlike Brown, Alstott actually lined up in the FB position and layed some devastating blocks for Dunn, until Dunn got hurt and then he was featured as a runner more

True and the same goes for Riggins. If Alstott had at least 10,000 yards rushing I believe he would have a stronger case for the HOF.

I never felt like Alstott was an elite blocker (a good one) but a better power runner. He's kind of a tweener where he wasn't a true FB but not a true HB. Almost Riggins like w/out the rushing stats.

Finally a thread I can sink my teeth into. I'm a rather heavy into collecting HOFers, especially autos, though I'll pick up RCs here and there as I can. Figure you guys would appreciate these two.

First I picked this up from a guy at my LCS and paid ungraded prices to take it to Nationals to have it graded on site:

Then I picked this card up a while ago. Guy said he pulled it, went straight into a screw down and was kept in a dark lock box until he sold it to me. Figured it was worth grading and indeed was well worth the price of grading:

Got plenty of other HOF autos in my bucket, plus even have a freewebs website that I use to keep track of who all I need. lol.

Figure I'll throw this out there for your consideration though as they were talking about it after the game last night. Who all do you think will be first ballot next year? Deion is almost assured, but you also have Faulk, Bettis, Martin. Should be interesting, but hoping to see someone like Kramer make it in finally.

hey HOF guys, I'm moving these if anyone is interested.

Looking for $140.00 delivered on the lot. This lot includes every version of this card except for the black 1/1. Paypal only.

Welcome to the Board! I'll have to check out your sites.

Sharp looking Payton and Unitas. You did well w/ the grading. The Payton has excellent centering and the Unitas is a strong 9.5.

I agree on Sanders, Faulk, maybe another one of the RB's, a WR or TE, an OL, or a DL or LB in place of the other RB.

My top candidates:

Sanders
Faulk, Bettis, Martin, Craig
Reed, Carter, Brown, Sharpe
Dawson, Roaf
Kennedy, Dent, Haley
Greene

SR. Selections (off the top of my head):

Kramer
Nobis
Humphrey
Stabler
Al Wistert
